We thought we would be here for at least another week. We thought there was a chance we’d have to go to Wolfson’s in Orlando for inpatient therapy. We thought she’d be on weaning medications for several weeks more. We thought a lot of things. But God had other plans. Her body is amazing. She is so strong and such a feisty little baby. It doesn’t matter what we think.
We are nervous about going home tomorrow but looking forward to getting back to a little more of a normal life. It will be several months before we can truly be back to normal life, but I’m praying that by Ruth’s 1st birthday in January, this will all be a distant memory. We will celebrate her life SO hard
Please continue praying.
Her brain swelling must go down before her skull bone can be replaced.
We have been given a weaning schedule to go home and if all goes well, she will be down to one medicine by next week and then completely off by the end of next week.
She will need physical and occupational therapy a few times a week to help her get back to her baseline mobility and skills.
She will have to wear a helmet when transported or if she begins to get more mobile. As you can imagine, 8 month old babies do not enjoy helmets…
As long as her incision is healing properly, we will be getting her approximately 75 stitches out next week.
We (mostly Brandon) have to do daily wound care and cleaning which is not a fun task!
She still has a cold and is teething, but we are going to do everything we can to ensure no one in our house gets sick in the next 6 weeks leading up to her surgery to put the skull bone back in.
She will have another 3-4 day hospital stay in December after her replacement surgery.
Brandon and I are trying to figure out the logistics of work schedules, appointments and school.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. Update regarding baby Ruth in Florida from my niece:
She is now out of PICU but seems to have a long ways to go in her recovery. She can’t sit up by herself, crawl or use her right arm. She’s slowly being weaned off pain meds. So please keep those prayers going up. Thank you!!️ Praise! Our grandson Nolan is home & on antibiotics. Thank you Jesus and all your prayers ️ Our 5yr old Grandson Nolan has pneumonia in both lungs and has been admitted to Childrens hospital in MN. He is on oxygen until the antibiotics kick in and his lungs start to recover. Prayers for a complete recovery. Thank you.
My husband had been sick for the past few years with advanced COPD and congestive heart failure. He was also on oxygen all the time. Our house caught fire 8-7-24 it was a total loss. But I got my husband out in enough time that no smoke got in his lungs. But he ended up going into cardiac arrest. And passed away. So in just a few minutes I lost my home & my husband of 38 years. He was only 60. My family & are having a hard time with it all. So I am asking for prayers for my family. Thank you & GOD BLESS. My niece, Becky, advised me that her cousin’s great granddaughter, about a year old, in Florida fell from her daddy’s arms as they were playing and landed on her head. They have done surgery to drill a hole to relieve the swelling. Not sure of prognosis as yet, but she, her Daddy and family could sure use healing prayers both for her head and his heart. Please pray for our family as we unexpectedly lost my brother in law this morning. THere’s a big change coming to our house and my anxiety is high but I know the Lord will carry us through. Asking for prayers that the Lord will show a new direction and keep our heads above water in the meantime. My friend,Lynn, is in Wesley. She had a stroke. She’s improving but has some healing and therapy to go through. Prayers appreciated. I am asking desperately for prayers for my husband Keith Brewer. He is in Wesley hospital. He had some seizures that made his heart stop. He now has brain damage and it may be too much for him to recover from. We have not been to church there very many times in the last 3 years as he has been in and out of the hospital many times. We were some of the very few people that were members of the church when it was South Broadway Southern Baptist Church. We were some of the members that chose to combine with the Derby church to become a cowboy church in the first place many years ago. I grew up in that church and no matter what the name may be, it will always be my home. Thank you for your prayers. This prayer has been answered!
